Fifty Shades of Grey is one of the most anticipated films for the year. The film is based on the world wide best selling novel of the same name If you have not read the book, well its a pretty decent novel. The book is about Christian Grey, megalomaniac, who has endured a harrowing past as a child. By happenstance Christian meets Anastacia Steele, who was requested by her best friend, Kate Kavanaugh, whom was indisposed on the day of the interview, hence she asked Anastacia to interview Christian for the school magazine, due to Christian being one of the primary benefactor for their University. During their brief encounter in Christian's office at Grey Enterprise, Anastacia Steele is completely flushed by Christian presence. His penetrating gaze from grey eyes, stern cadence, authoritative countenance and sterile ambiance is all unerving to Anastacia, and yet captivating. "No man has ever affected me the way Christian Grey has, and I cannot fathom why. Is it his looks? His civility? Wealth? Power? I don't understand my irrational reaction. I breathe an enormous amount sigh of relief. What in heaven name was that all about! Leaning against one of the steel pillar of the building, I valiantly attempted to calm down and gather my thought. I shake my head. What was that! My heart steadies to its regular rhythm and when I can breathe normally again I head for the car." Chap 2 pg: 17 Despite his calm reserve in the presence of Anastacia, Christian is entrance by her. Regardless of his signature taste in females with blond features- illustrated profoundly in the novel- surprisingly he is entrance by Ana( for short) notwithstanding she is a brunette, scruffy and uncoordinated. Despite her obvious insecurities, Christian is attracted to Ana subtle appeal and introduces her into his world of sadistmasochism which features dominant and submissive contract, red room of pain among other things. As times progresses, Ana discovers the mercurial personality of Christian, ranging from his controlling behavior to his raving sexual appetite. She also uncovers the torment he has experience and why she is unable to touch him. Eventually Ana realizes that despite Christian fortunes, clinical behavior, there is a man that suffered immensely and only desires to be loved. Fifty Shades of Grey explicit sexual descriptive content makes it startling to see how this is all depicted on the big screen. It was even made public about the lack of chemistry in the lovemaking on set between the two main actor- James Dornan and Dakota Johnson (read here). What do you expect of such circumstance? Imagine the compromising position both lead actors had to endure to reenact the scenes of intense intimacy while 50 or more shady persons sits, film and watch. Trust me when I state that the sexual acts are beyond the normal R- rating of a film. It is surprising how the film acquired standard cinema rating from the MPAA. So lascivious was the movie that many critics labeled it has sophomore porn, but as I stated in my previous blog what exactly does a critic screen a film for. Let us know what you are looking for. If you have watch Birdman, there is moment when Michael Keaton character, Riggan Thomson was bashing a critic. The words he uses, I believe is an accurate representation of some of these critic. Returning my focus to what I discussing before I digress Fifty Shades of Grey overwrought with sex. Literally like almost every chapter in the novel has some form of sexual connotation. The film is neither short of sexual scenes, but i must admit it is distributed equally within the running time.
Truthfully, Fifty Shades of Grey Movie deserves praise for honoring the essence of the source and directors effort to balance the atmosphere with match. Read Fifty Shades Review. With the success of the first film, there is plans for the follow up, but there is some sort of creative control being ironed out. The film opened with an astounding 239 million globally. Impressive opening since the film is not in the ranks of a Superhero films. Its the highest opening for a films adaptation. Not even Twilight had that such momentum. Can the film directors continue the novel success with the promise of the sequel? Or will be film success descend into Fifty Shades of Grim. Strongly doubt it. Sex sells and Fifty Shades of Grey has a lot of it. Simple curiosity will indeed lure a large viewership into the Theater, especially in an era where sexual taboo provides widespread intrigue.
