Idris Responds to Rush LImabaugh about his role as James Bond
If you’re not aware, let me briefly provide some insight. A week ago amidst the whole controversy surrounding the hacked email account of Sony Pictures Entertainment an email was revealed that Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s motion pictures group, Amy Pascal, apparently stated. Idris Elba to be the next James Bond. Subsequent the release of the email, American conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh reportedly said Elba couldn't get the role because he is black. ( read the article) to get the full details. Idris Elba responded to the statement saying “007 is supposed to be handsome? Glad you think I’ve got a shot!” Don't really know if that's a valid argument, because the debate wasn't if James Bond should be handsome or not. Though we already stated that acting roles should not be determined by a person race, that was a really poor response from a renowned actor. You would think that a robust figure like Idris, rejoinder would be something along the lines of 'don't allow my race to define my potential' but to the dismay of many, this is what you get from a Hollywood actor. Nevertheless we remain neutral and still stand by what we said, a person color should not define their true potential. |
